If you ever wondered how does Google work and how is it able to serve websites for almost any kind of inquiry, here is the answer.

Understanding the approach to google would place you on a better foot to device strategies for your website to climb up the search results.

Consider it this way.. Let Google be a librarian who server books to various people who come and ask for certain enquiries.

The only difference is its library is very large.

Now. if someone came and searched on google certain keywords, as a librarian, what would Google do? What would you do ?

What you would do is you would pick up those keywords and check your library whether any books are there which contain the same keyword in their title or not, then you would open the book and check the table of contents whether the same keywords are there in the table of contents are not.

If the books match, you would pick up all the books and present them to the customer. Then silently you will be observant. What you will observe is that which books, from amongst those books that you have picked, does the customer pick and accordingly you will make a note in your mind that the other books might not be what the customers may be looking for. Also, you might think that for this enquiry, probably this book is the best matched.

This is exactly what Google does!

When you search a keyword on Google what it does is it checks the websites listed within itself whether all those keywords are contained in the titles  or the content or the headings are not. If there is a match, it serves the list of the websites.

Then it is very observant, it observes on which links does the user click. Like if the particular website is listed for a lot of search results but there are no clicks on the website, it would understand that probably the results are not appropriate or probably the listings are not appropriate.

So, similarly if somebody takes a book and then comes next and says “No, I don’t want it, give me some other book” what Google will think is that for this keyword I gave him this book but the customer returned the book so probably, the contents of the book are not in accordance with the expectations of the customers.

Similarly, in a website, if the bounce rate is higher that means that people come to your website but they do not find the content they are looking in for and they bounce back. This means probably the content people are looking for is not there in your website.

So let’s start with optimising content of the website to include the keywords, which are being used in Google.

This is the first step towards search engine optimisation.

TYPE B : Profile Targeting (Draw out their profile and start to approach them)

Type C : Content Targeting (Reach to them through content relevant to their context)

3. Where to spend your money?

TYPE A : Definitely YES ! (Do all it takes to become visible)

TYPE B : Small amount are ok. But organic may be preferred more.

TYPE C : Not at all.
